Our Hakone Satchel in Black Lizard featured in Côte d’Azur on - "Checkmated at the Côte d’Azur".

"An exotic garden, crowded with lifesize animal statues, hanging serenely between the sky and the Mediterranean Sea. That was what we encountered when entering the crow’s nest of the Château de la Chèvre d’Or (TripAdvisor) situated in the medieval city of Èze (France) and ranked as one of the most beautiful hotels in the world.

My mind swirled between connotations of an animal-stuffed ark of Noah, a peaceful Garden of Eden and a part of Narnia not yet revealed in any of C.S. Lewis’ books. Anyway, I can safely say that the view had an almost otherworldly quality. The garden even had a huge chess board, obviously suited to the oversized limbs of for instance the giraffes, who were clearly racking their undersized brains on a mating attack against the enemy king.

The château, nestled on the steep slopes of the French Riviera, offers breathtaking views of the sea on the horizon with a profusion of lawns, flowers, trees and shrubs on the foreground. We were pleasantly intoxicated by the lingering scents of jasmine, rose and sea salt. This Youtube video captures the domain beautifully.

I was wearing a Free People dress I’d been coveting for months before finally buying it. I’m so glad I did: it has the most elegant, flattering A-line shape and I love the detail of the long row of buttons attached to the front of the dress. I wore it with a soft black scarf for warmth, my pretty black August handbag(previously worn here) and my pair of brown mules. The latter – I admit – were not the most practical for walking up and down the rocky stairs, but when do fashion bloggers ever prioritize comfort over style? Certainly not when they are checkmated by the overwhelming view of an earthly paradise."
