We are huge supporters of our National Parks but none more than Glacier National Park in Montana, where we spend as much time in the summers as humanly possible. Glacier is over 1500 square miles of mountains, rivers, lakes, glaciers and wild animals running to the border with Canada. With over 700 hiking trails its hard to not get lost in the wild here (in a good way).
The famous Going to the Sun Road takes you to the top of Logan Pass to the visitor center where the very knowledgable rangers can give you a rundown of the best hikes for the day. This past trip we went into West Glacier, to an area I hadn't explored much and we were rewarded with a hidden gem in Polebridge Mercantile and Saloon and a great hike around Bowman Lake.
After working off some energy we were ready for dinner so we headed out of the park through Columbia Falls and into Whitefish, MT. I love wandering down main street into the cute little shops, grabbing coffee at Montana Coffee Traders, Ice Cream at Sweet Peaks and beers are Casey's but this trip was special (our anniversary) so we popped into Tupelo grill. This restaurant has a killer wine list and mixes local game and veggies with a Cajun cooking style that makes for a great meal.
