Women We LOVE - Brooke Danielson in Copenhagen

NAME: Brooke Ely Danielson HOMETOWN: Pacific Palisades, California by way of Charlottesville, VA CURRENTLY LIVING: New York City  OCCUPATION: Freelance Fashion editor (think: Glamour, Vogue, InStyle - she won't brag but we will!) FAVORITE TRIP: France and Italy one summer with my family. We went wine tasting in the Burgundy region after a quick trip to Paris. We laughed, ate, drank and lived on a barge for a week without a care in the world. We spent our days riding bikes along the water and taking hot air balloon rides over fields of sunflowers. From France we took off for Italy...

Globetrotting - Carmel Valley Ranch

I love visiting amazing hotels in the off season.  You may not get perfect weather but you get great rates and quiet spots.  This was particularly true of a February visit to Carmel Valley Ranch in Northern California.  This spot has lavender farms and homemade honey on site with a signature bee experience. Visiting in February meant taking advantage of the in room fire places and bundling up for a hike to their inspiration point.  Great for kids or a romantic vacation any time of year. I suggest a two night stay with dinner at the hotel's great restaurant, with...

GOOP x Reebok

GOOP x Reebok

We were lucky enough to participate in an amazing morning of working out with other inspiring women in collaboration with GOOP x Reebok.   Working out with Jen Widerstrom and checking out Reebok's latest gear is an incredible way to start a morning and then we were treated to Gwenyth's favorite Macha latte recipe by the GOOP food editor. Sunshine, workouts, matcha and a free bag of Reebok goodies = our kind of morning! xx

Globetrotting: Downtown LA's Arts District

Our creative director used to live in the Art's District in downtown LA before having a baby.  She and her family recently went back to explore the constantly evolving landscape there and came back with some priceless tips.  They brought along baby I too so everything is family friendly for a hip day in LA.  xx   EAT Brunch at Manuela – locally sourced, organic fare with a southern twist. The chilaquiles  are great, and the charred squash is amazing (topped with pomegranate seeds!). A full bar and housemade sodas make a great start to the day!   SEE The...

Globetrotting - Old Salem, North Carolina

For a fantastic day trip look no further than the historic town of Salem, the MESDA museum, and the Gardens at Old Salem. The historic Moravian town of Salem has been preserved and restored, and offers an immersive experience into how people lived and worked in the 18-19th century Old South.  EAT Have lunch at Tavern, in the annex next to the actual tavern where George Washington stayed. The menu is based on Moravian fare from the 19th century, and the chicken pie is a must try! Pro tip: the wait can be LONG!! Either go very early or...

Travel Beauty Must Haves - Hand Picked by Barney's Resident Make-Up Artist

We sat down with Barney's Resident Make-Up Artist Patrick Foley, who touches up the faces of the absolute top ladies (and gents) in Hollywood, to learn about his top three must have beauty picks for travel.   Full disclosure, I met Patrick nearly 20 years ago when he pulled me away from walking out the door looking AWFUL for prom, after getting my make-up done at a make-up counter.  His life saving (it was high school after all) tips and tricks have made me 100% loyal to him ever since and also really show what a kind and caring man...

August in Japan, by Kimberly Wolf

After A 10-hour, trans-pacific flight, up the California Coast and over Alaska’s magical, snowy Aleutian Islands, we landed at Tokyo’s Narita Airport. We were headed to Tokyo, Lake Kawaguchiko, Kanazawa, Mount Koyasan, & Kyoto. While I had a bunch of the details figured out in advance, I could not have understood ahead of time the wonder of this beautiful, friendly, historically-rich country. If you’re considering a visit, book it. If you’re wondering where to go and how to start planning, here are some tips for the journey.    When to go: September to May. If you want to see the...

Malmo, Sweden by professional soccer player Ali Riley

Harsh winters, short summers, no surf, and a serious lack of Mexican food. At first I thought I was crazy for leaving my home town of Los Angeles and moving to Malmö, a city of 300,000 in the south of Sweden. But when the American Women’s Professional Soccer League (WPS) folded in January 2012, I was out of a job, and it would have been even crazier to turn down an offer to play for the top club team in Sweden. At first I was pretty lost, unable to understand the language and not knowing a single soul. But as...
