Women We Love - Audrey Ruhland

NAME: Audrey Alice Ruhland HOMETOWN: Farmington, Connecticut CURRENTLY LIVING: San Francisco, California OCCUPATION: Marketer by week, traveler and extremely novice sailor by weekend FAVORITE TRIP: The one I just got home from! I spent three weeks traveling around London, Ireland, Scotland and France. My sister Lizzie and I took on London and Ireland together, and my husband Garrett and I continued on to Islay, Edinburgh, Nice, and Paris. I was so grateful for the chance to travel separately with my sister and my husband throughout so many different places—getting good quality time in seems to get harder and harder in...

How we built it?

How we built it?

Inspiration: We were inspired by a trip that founders Jenna and Charley took to Cambodia, and the beautiful imagery they brought back. Especially at Angkor Wat, the thickness of the jungle intertwined with ancient stone monuments was breathtaking, and we wanted to evoke this idea of man-made architecture being blurred into natural forms. Charley had taken a photograph of the 'iconic' view of Angkor Wat reflecting into the water, and as we started to play around with repeating this image a pattern took shape that was reminiscent of sound waves. We love the way the building becomes an acoustic image,...

From France we took off for Italy...

Globetrotting - Carmel Valley Ranch

I love visiting amazing hotels in the off season.  You may not get perfect weather but you get great rates and quiet spots.  This was particularly true of a February visit to Carmel Valley Ranch in Northern California.  This spot has lavender farms and homemade honey on site with a signature bee experience. Visiting in February meant taking advantage of the in room fire places and bundling up for a hike to their inspiration point.  Great for kids or a romantic vacation any time of year. I suggest a two night stay with dinner at the hotel's great restaurant, with...
